Session 1 of the Puerto Vallarta Challenge ended with another drama-packed contest, with Louisiana Tech pushing a run across with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to slip past James Madison.
The Techsters (1-4) had the bases loaded with one out in the sixth inning, but an interference call and a line-out double play shut down that threat. In the top of the seventh, James Madison (3-2) came close as well, but LA Tech right fielder Ali Galaz threw out a runner at the plate to keep the score tied at 2-all.
In the bottom of the seventh, Karlee Jensen slapped a single up the middle to bring home Bayli Simon and send the teams home.
The Dukes took a 2-0 lead, getting a home run from Morgan Tolle and an RBI single from Odicci Alexander. LA Tech tied it in the bottom of the third on a two-run single by Morgan Turkoly. Preslee Gallaway threw three innings of scoreless relief to get the win for the Techsters.
