Friday action at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge saw Nevada take a 4-2 lead after one inning, but constant pressure from the bats of Long Beach State sent the 49ers to victory, their second one of the tournament.
Long Beach State (2-0) scored seven runs in the third inning to take a commanding lead and had a chance to end the game early on the run-rule in both the fifth and sixth innings. But the Wolf Pack (1-2) showed some tenacity and plated two runs in those innings to keep the action going.
Nichole Fry had three hits, including a home run, scored three times and drove in three for the 49ers. Naomi Hernandez had four hits; Long Beach State finished with 18 hits (only two for extra bases) and took advantage of seven errors by Nevada. Devyn Magnett came in as a relief pitcher in the second inning and threw the remaining six innings.
The Wolf Pack got two hits and two RBI from Mele Tausinga.
