DUKE 3, LIBERTY 1
Caroline Jacobsen hit a solo home run in the second inning and drove in another run with a single in the fourth, and pitcher Amelia Wiercioch earned the save with two pressure outs in the seventh inning to send Duke past Liberty.
Trailing 3-0, the Flames loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, and Deidre See walked to make it 3-1. Wiercioch came in and got two groundouts to secure the result.
Liberty (1-2) put runners on first and second with one out in the fifth, but Duke reliever Peyton St. George got a fielder's choice for the second out. With the bases loaded, she registered a strikeout to end the frame. Liberty closed with 13 runners left on base. Madison Via had four hits, and Jaclyn Amader had three hits.
The Blue Devils (2-1) scored a run in the first, on a sacrifice fly from Rachel Abboud.
