Washington wrapped up its time in Puerto Vallarta by scoring two runs late to top North Dakota State, 5-3, as part of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
Both teams came out swinging early, with Washington (8-1) scoring three runs and the Bison answering back with a pair. The big blow for the Huskies came on a two-run double by Nawai Kaupe to cap the scoring in the top of the first. Zoe Stavrou had an RBI single for NDSU, with a passed ball bringing home the second run.
NDSU (4-3) would tie the score again as Stavrou put the ball in play toward third and reached on an error, allowing the tying run to cross the plate.
Sis Bates would break the tie with an RBI in the sixth, and in the seventh, Rachel Ogasawara would drive in an insurance run for the Huskies.
