Despite a close loss to No. 5 Washington on Friday evening, UCF rebounded with a resounding win over Northern Colorado,7-0, on Saturday morning.
Jazmine Esparza provided early life for the Knights (3-3). The Junior tallied five RBI, singling in the first and doubling in the third. Alicia Tomberlin also double in the third inning, clearing the bases and scoring three more running, pushing UCF’s lead to 6-0.
Breanna Vazquez pitched seven full innings, giving up just three hits, recording 10 strikeouts and walking just two.
Kenzie Kudrna delivered the Bears’ first hit in the bottom of the sixth inning and came inches within scoring but was ultimately tagged out at home, keeping UNC (1-8) off the scoreboard. Valerie Vidal struck out six and walked only one for the Bears.
