#7 Huskies Beat Iowa State 8-4

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Lindsay Lopez allowed just three hits and one run over five innings and #7 Washington broke the game open scoring six runs in the sixth as the Huskies beat Iowa State 8-4 at the Puerto Vallarta Challenge at Nancy Almaraz Stadium.

Lopez did not walk a batter and fanned four to pick up the win. Ruby Meylan recorded the final four outs to get the save.

Meylan and Jadyn Glab from Washington were named to the All-tournament team from session I as the Huskies went 3-1 in Mexico.

Rylie Holtorf and Brooklyn Carter each had three hits while Sydney Stewart, Avery Hobson and Kinsey Fiedler each had two hits as Washington finished with 15 hits.

Carli Spelhaug homered and had two of the three hits for Iowa State.

Jillian Celis had an RBI single in the top of the first giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Washington added an insurance run in the fifth on an RBI single by S Stewart to take a 2-0 lead.

The Cyclones got on the board in the home half of the fifth on a solo homer to right by Spelhaug.

Alana Johnson hit a solo blast before Kinsey Fiedler later added a two-run shot to highlight the six-run sixth for the Huskies.

Ashley Minor hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth before the Cyclones added a pair of unearned runs cutting the deficit to 8-4.

Meylan came on with the bases loaded in the sixth up 8-4 and got a ground ball to end the Iowa State threat.
