PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Nicole Hammoude’s two-run homer highlighted a four-run fifth inning leading Louisiana Tech to a 9-4 win over Northern Colorado at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
Allie Floyd went the distance and scattered eight hits while allowing four earned runs, walking three and striking out six to get the win for the Bulldogs.
Floyd and Northern Colorado’s Anna Wilming matched zeros until the Bulldogs struck in the bottom of the fourth.
LA Tech loaded the bases on three straight singles to start the fourth by Reagan Marchant, Claire Raley and Hammoude.
KB Briley broke the scoreless with a sacrifice fly, but that is all the Bulldogs would get taking a 1-0 lead into the fifth.
Elena Heng led off the bottom of the fifth with a double to left and scored on an error giving LA Tech a 2-0 lead. Raley’s RBI ground out pushed the lead to 3-0 before Hammoude’s two-run homer made it 5-0.
UNC got on the board in the sixth on a two-run double by Sabrina Javorsky cutting the deficit to 5-2.
Addison Snyder’s two-run double keyed a four-run sixth for a 9-2 lead.
Gonzales had a two-run single for the Bears to close the scoring.
Hammoude and Marchant had two hits a piece for the Bulldogs.
Javorsky, Gonzales and Katie Walling each had two hits for Northern Colorado.
