Dack Grand Slam Leads #12 FSU Past LA Tech

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Katie Dack’s grand slam in the top of the first highlighted a five-run inning leading #12 Florida State to a 6-3 win over Louisiana Tech at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

The Seminoles batted around in the first as  Dack hit the grand slam before Kennedy Harp added an RBI triple for the 5-0 lead.

Florida State added an unearned run in the third extending the lead to 6-0.

The Bulldogs cut the deficit in half scoring three unearned runs in the fourth. Addison Snyder got LA Tech on the board with an RBI single, Claire Raley added an RBI double before Nicole Hammoude’s RBI single made it 6-3.

Julia Apsel (1-0) got the win in relief for the Noles. She went two innings and allowed two hits, did not walk a batter and fanned four. Jazzy Francik struck out all three batters she faced to get the save.

Starter Mattison Butler (0-1) took the loss for LA Tech. Ryleigh Shull allowed just one hit over the final three innings for the Bulldogs in her collegiate debut.

Isa Torres had two hits for Florida State

Raley and Hammoude had two hits for LA Tech.
