BOISE STATE 4, INDIANA 10

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Indiana struck first in PV and never looked back in their victory over Boise State.

Avery Parker got the party started for Indiana, with a towering two-run homer to left-center field.

Boise State’s Sophia Knight continued to show why she is one of the nation’s premier bats, with a sacrifice fly scoring Hollie Farmer. Knight ended the night going 2-for-3 at the plate, with an RBI.

The Hoosiers offense continued finding barrels in the 2nd inning. With two outs, Melina Wilkison singled, scoring Kinsey Mitchell. Taylor Minnick then cleared the loaded bases with a three RBI double to right center, to make it a 6-1 game. A few batters later, Sarah Stone hit a line drive 3-run home run to left center, making the tally 9-1 Hoosiers.

Both teams settled in defensively through the third and fourth innings.

The Broncos battled back, to avoid the 8-run rule, in the top of the 5th scoring a scrappy three runs. Sydney Groves walked, forcing in Boise State’s second run of the game, followed by a Lake RBI groundout to the shortstop and a Farmer RBI groundout to the shortstop, cutting the Hoosier lead to 9-4.

The Broncos threatened again in the 6th, but ultimately IU pitcher, Brianna Copeland stranded a pair.

In the bottom of the 5th, Melina Wilkison hammered her second homer of the season to give the Hoosiers a 10-4 lead going into the final frame.

The Hoosier starting pitcher, Berry threw four solid innings of work, giving up just one run, earning her the victory. Copeland took care of the Broncos in the final two innings, striking out three, while holding Boise State scoreless late.
