PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Florida State blasted four homers as the #12 Seminoles beat Louisiana Tech 9-1 in five innings at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
Makenna Reid (1-0) allowed just three hits and an unearned run while walking one and fanning two in 4.3 innings to get the win in the circle for the Noles (3-1).
FSU got on the board in the first on a solo homer by Katie Dack.
Claire Raley led off the top of the second with a triple for the Bulldogs, but was stranded.
Jahni Kerr blasted a solo homer for the Noles in the second to take a 2-0 lead.
Kennedy Harp had an RBI triple in the third increasing the lead to 3-0.
Krystina Hartley’s three-run home run in the fourth increased the lead to 6-0.
The Bulldogs got on the board on an RBI fielder’s choice by pinch hitter Paris Endris in the fifth making the score 6-1, but La Tech would leave the bases loaded.
Hallie Wacaser’s two-run homer in the fifth gave FSU an 8-1 lead.
Hartley’s sacrifice fly in the fifth for FSU ended the game due to the eight-run rule.
Raley had two hits for FSU.
Allie Floyd (2-1), who took the loss in this game, and Nicole Hammoude were named to the All-tournament team from the Bulldogs, who went 2-3 in Mexico.
