Miss. State Upsets #8 Clemson at PV Colllege Challenge

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Madisyn Kennedy homered and drove in three runs as Mississippi State remained unbeaten on the season and upset #8 Clemson 6-3 at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

The Bulldogs improve to 7-0 on the season in their first game in the Puerto Vallarta Challenge while Clemson drops to 6-2 in its final game in Mexico.

Aspen Wesley (3-0) went the distance and allowed just one earned run on six hits while walking just one and striking out eight.

Kennedy blasted a two-run homer to left center to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the second.

Mississippi State added an unearned run in the fourth when Jadyn Burney scored on a throwing error to push the lead to 3-0.The Bulldogs added another in the fifth on an RBI single by Jessie Blaine.Clemson cut the deficit in half in the fifth getting a pair of unearned runs as both runs scored on a throwing error.Kennedy delivered again, this time an RBI double in the sixth before the Bulldogs added an unearned run for a 6-2 lead.McKenzie Clark hit a solo homer for Clemson in the seventh.Aby Vieira and Clark had two hits for the Tigers.Clark and Valerie Cagle were named to the All-tournament team from Clemson.
