BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo wrapped up a second-half comeback with a terrific fourth quarter, scoring 29 points in the frame and moving past Rutgers to earn a berth in the Fab 4 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Bulls (28-7) will play Purdue Fort Wayne or Cleveland State in the next round, with date, time and location to be determined.
Chellia Watson scored 28 points for Buffalo, which fended off the final push of the Scarlet Knights (13-20) by hitting six free throws in the final 35 seconds. The Bulls had just nine turnovers and were 27-for-30 in free throws.
Rutgers started the second quarter on a 7-0 run and took a seven-point lead into halftime as Destiny Adams had a great start with 17 points and eight rebounds at the break.
Kirsten Lewis-Williams had 17 points for the Bulls and Terah Harness added 10 points.
Adams finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds for Rutgers; JoJo Lacey added 16 points. Both teams struggled from 3-point range – Buffalo was 6-for-22 and Rutgers finished 6-for-24.
