HATTIESBURG, MS — Jacorriah Bracey and Domonique Davis were big point producers all night for Southern Miss, with the duo shining even brighter in overtime Saturday as the Golden Eagles topped Murray State in Round 2 of the Postseason WNIT.
Bracey hit two shots to start the extra session as USM took a 69-65 lead with 3:11 to go. Davis drilled a big 3-pointer at 2:11, and a Bracey layup at 1:11 sealed the deal. The Golden Eagles (20-13) will play Louisiana Monroe or Grambling State in Round 3.
Davis scored 33 points and was 12-for-12 from the free-throw line, while Bracey rang up a career-high 25 points to go with 12 rebounds. Melyia Grayson added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Davis and Bracey also played all 45 minutes.
The Racers (20-12) were paced by Katelyn Young, who scored 26 points and became the all-time leading scorer in program history for Murray State with a total of 2,311 points. Ava Learn, a transfer from Purdue, had her best scoring night for Murray State with 18 points. Bria Sanders-Woods had nine assists.
Both teams struggled from long range — USM was 3-for-18 from the 3-point line, and Murray State was 3-for-21. The Racers also had 18 turnovers.
