RUTGERS 89, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 67
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers came out of the break and outscored Charleston 26-13 in the third quarter, building a lead and earning a spot out of the Super 16 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
Destiny Adams boosted the Scarlet Knights (13-19) with a triple double, closing with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Rutgers now advances to the Great 8 and will play at Buffalo (27-7) in the next round; tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 30.
JoJo Lacey rang up 19 points along with nine rebounds for the Scarlet Knights; Mya Petticord scored 18 points, Awa Sidibe and Chyna Cornwell each tallied 12 points and Zachara Perkins had 10 points. Cornwell added 11 rebounds. Rutgers was 11-for-24 from the 3-point line and had the edge in rebounds, 47-34.
The Cougars (25-8) got a big night from Taryn Barbot, who closed with 33 points and 12 rebounds. Jazmyn Stone had 12 points and Taylor Barbot had 11 points, six rebounds and nine assists.
BUFFALO 76, SOUTHERN INDIANA 64
EVANSVILLE, IN – Buffalo raced out to a 16-point halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 76-64 victory over Southern Indiana in the Super 16 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Bulls featured a well-balanced attack with four players scoring in double figures. Chellia Watson led the team with 16 points and six assists, Jordyn Beaty and Terah Harness each scored 13 points, and Lani Cornfield rounded out the scoring with 12 points. As a team, Buffalo shot 46.6 percent from the field compared to 34.4 percent for Southern Indiana.
Buffalo also dominated inside with a 38-20 advantage over Southern Indiana in points in the paint, and forced the Screaming Eagles into 22 turnovers which it converted into 21 points.
Buffalo will host Rutgers in the Great 8 on Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. ET.
ILLINOIS STATE 78, ABILENE CHRISTIAN 68
BLOOMINGTON, IL – Shannon Dowell scored 28 points to lead Illinois State into the Great 8 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT with a 78-68 victory over Abilene Christian on Thursday night.
Dowell was one of four Redbirds to score in double figures, who shot 52.9 percent from the field as a team. Elyce Knudson scored 16 points and Maya Wong and Addison Martin each scored 12 to round out the scoring for Illinois State.
The two teams were tied at half, but Illinois State outscored Abilene Christian 26-16 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Illinois State will host Louisiana Tech in the Great 8 on Monday, March 31 at 7 p.m. ET.
TROY 88, NORTH TEXAS 86 (OT)
TROY, AL – Ashley Baez hit two free throws, her only points of the game, with no time left on the clock as Troy outlasted North Texas to earn a berth in the Great 8 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Trojans (22-13) will play at North Dakota State (21-11) in the next round; tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on Monday, March 31.
Two free throws by Ereauna Hardaway gave North Texas a 74-73 lead with 1:21 left in regulation. A free throw by Brianna Jackson tied it at 74-all; Kyla Deck put the Mean Green up 75-74 with a free throw with 16 seconds left, and Emani Jenkins sent the game to overtime with a free throw at :02.
Deck hit a 3-pointer to give North Texas an 86-80 lead, but Briana Peguero came through with a 3-pointer and a layup-plus-free-throw to tie it at 86-all with 23 seconds to go, setting up Baez’s heroics.
Zay Dyer had 23 points and 13 rebounds for Troy. Shaulana Wagner added 17 points and 10 assists, Jackson and Peguero each closed with 14 points and Jenkins added 10 points. The Trojans had 30 turnovers but closed with a 54-39 lead in rebounds.
The Mean Green (25-9) saw Tommisha Lampkin come through with 26 points and seven rebounds; Desiree Wooten had 21 points, Deck finished with 16 points and Hardaway had 12 points. North Texas was just 18-for-33 from the free-throw line.
NORTH DAKOTA STATE 59, WASHINGTON STATE 51
FARGO, ND – North Dakota State saved its best for last, using a 17-3 scoring run in the fourth quarter to take control and earn a spot in the Great 8 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Bison (20-11) will host Troy (22-13) in the next round; tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on Monday, March 31.
Avery Koenen had 19 points and eight rebounds for NDSU, which had just six turnovers. Marisa Frost had 12 points and Abbie Draper had 10 points.
The Cougars (21-14) got 14 points each from Eleonora Villa and Alex Covill; Astera Tuhina had 10 rebounds.
