Through the weekend of March 8-9, two teams have secured automatic qualifier status for the Postseason WNIT:
Lindenwood – Out of the Ohio Valley Conference, Lindenwood (21-10) won 16 games in league play and reached the OVC championship game before coming up just short in overtime. The Lions moved up from Division II in 2019 and bounced back impressively from a 7-21 finish last season. Three players – Ellie Brueggemann (11.8 points per game), Brooke Coffey (10.8 ppg) and Gracy Wernli (10.5 ppg) – have started all 31 games for Lindenwood.
Longwood – The Lancers (22-11) were picked to finish seventh in the Big South but came alive this season, topping 20 victories for the second time in two decades and reaching the conference title game, falling to High Point by six points. Longwood won nine games last season; this campaign was paced by a swarming defense that forced more than 24 turnovers per game. The team is balanced offensively, paced by the 11 points per game from sophomore Amor Harris.
